On Wednesday, The Abbey’s Junior and Inter girls teams took part in this year’s ESAA Track and Field Cup. Each athlete took on the challenge of one track and one field event, with the results being converted into points towards the team’s total. The athletes were a credit to The Abbey, competing with determination, great team spirit and some truly impressive performances.

There were personal bests to celebrate, with Jinxin and Georgia both soaring to new heights in the high jump, while April powered her way to a new PB in the 1500m. Nimechi shone on the track in her 200m and in discus and Stephanie worked her socks off in the 1500m. In the long jump, Luna gained a new PB, showing great form and speed on the runway.

Susie and Yasmina took part in the triple jump for the very first time—a technical event that both handled with enthusiasm and promise. Over the hurdles, Freya and Jinxin showed strength and precision, attacking the barriers with speed and control.

Millie, Matilda and Chioma enjoyed their first taste of athletics competition representing The Abbey. Their enthusiasm and effort stood out, and they showed great potential for the future.

Throughout the day, The Abbey athletes supported each other with energy and positivity. Both the Inter and the Junior teams came 4th overall, with Susie and Nimechi as top scorers for their respective teams.
Congratulations to all the athletes who tried their hardest; all distances, heights and times recorded will have contributed to the team’s total.
