What music do you like listening to?
Lots! Quirky folk-type strangeness, classical and early music, some proper rock, the works, really
Do you have any hobbies or interests outside of school?
Paddle-boarding and occasionally scuba-diving, among others…

I once wore Robert Downey Junior’s outfit. Not the Iron Man one.
Where did you grow up?
On a farm in Gloucestershire.
What animal best describes you?
Um.. sea otter.
If you were stranded on a desert island, which two items could you not live without?
I’m going with food and water…
Do you have a secret talent or party trick?
I once worked in a casino, so I am not bad with cards.
Rom com, sci-fi, comedy or horror etc?
All at once, ideally.
What TV programme, film or box set etc did you recently enjoy?
Stardust. Not for the first time, nor the last…
Do you have a celebrity crush?
Er… Hedy Lamarr. She was brilliant.
Who is your hero?
Helen Musson and all the people like her who founded schools like The Abbey as part of the fight for educational equality.
What is your favourite vacation and why?
Seaside: in Wales, Cornwall, and all around the world.
What was your favourite school subject?
English.
What was the last thing you read?
Lullaby by Leila Slimani. It is very, very dark!
Would you rather cook or order takeaway?
Cook, definitely.
What interested you about your subject before becoming a teacher in this field?
Well: the way books are windows into minds and time.
What advice or career advice would you give your younger self?
Work out how you want your life to feel and be, before you work out what you want to do.

Do you have any interesting habits?
Re-reading bits of books I love at annoying times when I should be doing something else.
What is your favourite way to spend your free time?
Hammock and book. Or on the river.
What did you want to be when you grew up?
A travelling antiques dealer with a sideline in solving crimes.
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Night owl.
What’s your biggest fear?
Spiders. All kinds and varieties. But only indoors. Outside they can knock themselves out, but inside: it is just not on.
