Spotlight on Music Peripatetic Teachers

on

Chris began studying music at an early age, first on violin before moving to piano and eventually discovering the saxophone, which became his principal instrument. He later taught himself clarinet and flute. After building a solid foundation in music, he broadened his interests throughout secondary school and university, immersing himself in jazz, rock, pop, and world music.

His background in classical and jazz theory, and world music, has shaped his creative output. Chris is a published composer with Warwick Music and also regularly self-publishes works for wind ensembles on Sheet Music Direct.

He has nine commercial recordings to his credit and is currently working on the fourth instalment of the critically acclaimed Torsten song-cycle—starring Erasure’s Andy Bell—for which he writes and produces the music in his home studio. He also contributed to Bronski Beat’s 2025 release Forbidden Fruit – The Age of Consent Remixed, which reached number 2 on the Official Dance Albums Chart.

Chris is currently developing the story for a Christmas musical and performs regularly on saxophone with Sonnet Wind Orchestra, River City Saxes, and various big bands. His past work includes serving as musical director for theatre productions in London and Edinburgh, performing live on BBC Radio 2 and BBC Scotland, leading a marching band parade in Henley for returning Olympic rowers in 2000, and singing in front of Queen Elizabeth II.
