Sports Dinner

on

Our recent Sports Dinner was a truly memorable evening, bringing together students, staff and parents to celebrate what has been an exceptionally busy and successful sporting season at The Abbey. The event featured a delicious three course meal and provided a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the dedication, teamwork, and achievements of our students across a wide range of both individual and team sports.

A highlight of the evening was the presentation of awards, recognising individual excellence and outstanding contributions throughout the year. We are delighted to congratulate all of our award winners:

Athletics: Serena Deol

Cricket: Susie Lawrence

Cross Country: Matilda Noble

Football: Susie Lawrence & Emily Wilson

Tennis: Hannah Bark-Jones & Gabby Rust-D’Eye

The John Tovey Memorial Trophy for Outstanding Hockey Achievement: Grace Lawrence & Lily Maidlow

The Thompson Netball Trophy: Riya Gill & Sienna Grant

The Hardcastle Swimming Trophy: Anaya Singh

Special recognition awards were also presented:

The Middle School Physical Education Cup (Lower V – Upper V): Riya Gill

The Senior School Physical Education Cup (Sixth Form): Hannah Bark-Jones

The Director of Sport Leadership Award: Olivia Durrant

The Sturrock Trophy for Outstanding Achievement in Sport: Ione Haley

We were honoured to welcome our guest speaker, Sophie Christiansen CBE, whose inspiring and deeply moving speech resonated with everybody in the Richards Hall. Her reflections on perseverance, resilience, and the power of sport left a lasting impression on all who attended.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to our Sports Captains – Gabby, Hannah, Ione and Tranthiniin Upper VI – along with all of our students for their enthusiasm, commitment and engagement in sport throughout the year. Your passion and determination are what make sport at The Abbey so special.

Finally, we are incredibly grateful to parents for their continued support and for joining us at this wonderful celebration. Your encouragement plays a vital role in the success and enjoyment of our sporting community.

It was a fantastic evening and we look forward to another exciting year of sport ahead!
