Following on from the outstanding achievements of all our choirs at this year’s Woodley Festival, we were thrilled to welcome a very special guest to our celebration assembly. Ann Peddle, Chair of the Choral Section of the festival, joined us to share in the excitement and recognise the hard work of our young singers.
Ann spoke warmly about how impressed she was to see such a large number of children from our school taking part in the choir classes. She also asked the pupils about individual entries, and many were proud to put their hands up to show they had taken part this year.
During her visit, Ann explained that the Festival awards a prestigious Choir of the Year trophy, chosen only after all 24 choirs across every section have performed. With great delight, she announced to the whole junior school that this year’s Jenny Brown Choir of the Year Trophy (in memory of the previous chair of the Choral Section) had been awarded to Somerleaze Singers.
The hall erupted in applause as the children celebrated this remarkable achievement together. We are incredibly proud of every pupil who took part in the festival—whether singing in a choir or performing individually. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and love of music continue to shine brightly.
