Senior Maths Challenge success

on

Students from Upper V, Lower VI, and Upper VI took part in the highly anticipated annual Senior Maths Challenge earlier this month, and the results are in! The competition, renowned for its challenging and thought-provoking questions, was met with diligence and dedication by the students.

Among the participants, eight students achieved the prestigious Gold award. This achievement also grants them the rewarding opportunity to compete in the Senior Kangaroo paper, scheduled for later in November. The Gold award recognises their exceptional problem-solving abilities, and the Maths department couldn’t be more proud.

The paper requires more than just memorising formulas – it demands a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts and a flair for innovative thinking. To inspire future participants, here is a sample question from this year’s paper. Do you think you can solve it?

Looking ahead, the Maths department has another exciting event coming up. Cafe Maths, part of Maths Week (11-18 November), promises to be an engaging and enjoyable opportunity. Whether you’re passionate about Maths or just curious, come along to watch, or you can speak about mathematical ideas and challenges in a fun and interactive way. It’s the perfect event to kick off Maths Week and celebrate the beauty and creativity of Mathematics.
