Royal Ascot Fashion Design Competition Workshop

on

Recently our Lower V and Lower VI Textiles students were given an exciting opportunity to step into the world of fashion, creativity and real-world design through a collaboration with the design team from Colours Immortalis. As part of an inclusive, hands-on creative enrichment programme, The Colours Immortalis team supported the students to explore design ideas, refine their concepts and produce distinctive work in response to a real-life brief, all within their familiar school environment. The students then developed their individual designs to enter into the Royal Ascot Racecourse Fashion Design Competition 2026. The winning design will be brought to life as a custom-made garment, complete with a matching hat, for the student designer to wear to Royal Ascot, one of the most prestigious events in the British social and sporting calendar. The designs will also be showcased during the Racing to Zero Summer Mile Weekend at Ascot Racecourse on Saturday 11 July, giving students the opportunity to showcase their creativity to a wider audience. The workshop highlighted the exciting possibilities within the creative industries, while enabling students to develop valuable skills in creativity, communication, problem-solving and presenting work to a set brief and deadline.  Thanks are extended to Ascot Racecourse for funding this fantastic initiative and for supporting the next generation of designers. As this forms part of an ongoing competition, the designs cannot be shared at this stage; however, the school looks forward to revealing the students’ outstanding work in due course. Last years’ winner, Sofia’s original sketch is included in the photographs and her design is currently on display in reception if you would like to take a closer look. So, watch this space!
