On Wednesday the junior and inter teams travelled to Winchester to compete in the SW Regional B Finals of the ESAA Schools Cup athletics competition. They had qualified for this as some of the top teams in the whole of the south west of England, so this was a tough competition and an excellent achievement to reach this stage.
The students did excellently in hot and sunny conditions, pulling out some top performances, personal bests and high scoring points all of which get added up to give a whole team score. In the junior team made up of UIII and LIV they did well with top performances from Luna in Long Jump with a new PB of 4.39, a first and second in shot from Fikayo and Elaine and new bests in the 800m and 1500m by Rosa and Stephanie. They got a team score of 272 points and an excellent 7th position overall.
In the inter team made up of UIV and LV they also did well with top performances from Emma in the 100m, Matilda in the 300m, Isabella in the 800m and Grace in the 1500m. Sofia performed excellently getting PB’s in both her 200m and discus. They got a team score of 347 points and an excellent 7th position overall. Congratulations to all pupils who took part and for achieving such great performances.
