Reception had a wonderful time exploring Turret House, The Abbey’s very own museum. They embraced the opportunity to get dressed up in uniforms from the past, comparing old and new, noticing similarities and differences.

The experience provoked lots of interesting questions, such as why we don’t have a summer hat or a cape anymore as part of our uniform. At school the children designed their own school uniforms based on what they would like to wear to school cutting fabric to create skirts and blazers.

They enjoyed a visit from the Head Girls as part of the trip, who talked to them about how the school changes as they move up into the Senior school. We learnt about what they study and what they want to be when they leave school. This sparked our imaginations and lead to conversations of our Reception children’s own aspirations. Dream big little ones!
