Reception Lunar New Year

on

Our Reception Lunar New Year Inquiry was a super success this week.  We are so grateful to the kind families who came into school, sharing their traditions and knowledge with us in support of our PYP unit about How We Express Ourselves.  The children found out about how and why the Lunar New Year is celebrated and we discovered that this is the Year of the Rabbit.  Led by our visiting families, we enjoyed a range of wonderful activities, including learning how to write the Chinese character that represents a rabbit, traditional paper craft, making a decorative mask and trying on some traditional clothing.  We finished by learning how to say ‘Happy New Year’ and ‘thank you’ in Mandarin.
