Last Monday, students from Upper IV, Lower V and Lower VI attended the annual Reading Youth Council Conference. The day was fantastic, consisting of insightful workshops exploring some of the problems facing young people today.
We were lucky enough to have a speech and Q and A from our local MP Yuan Yang, who shared her wonderful story and journey with us, which was so inspiring for Abbey girls who wish to one day follow in her footsteps.
The morning consisted of a Wellbeing workshop, training us to develop healthy and useful techniques to share with our peers, and in the afternoon we took part in a Model UN-style debate about environmental issues affecting our world. The day helped us build confidence in public speaking and communication skills. It was a fabulous opportunity!
