We are excited to announce the Reading Festival of Sport on the morning of Saturday 20 May.
The Festival is a fun opportunity for children aged 3 – 7 years to take part in a free morning of sport taster sessions, coached by The Abbey’s specialist PE staff and GB gymnast Kelly Simm. More details on the festival are as follows:
- All activities take place at The Abbey Junior School on Christchurch Road Reading, RG2 7AR;
- A parent or guardian is required to remain on site at all times;
- Places will be offered by age group: Nursery; Reception; Year 1 & Year 2;
- All sport taster sessions will be delivered by expert coaches who are experienced with this age group;
- Limited parking is available at The Abbey Junior School. Additional roadside parking is available;
- The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Rachel Eden and GB gymnast Kelly Simm will officially open the Reading Festival of Sport at 09:00;
- Refreshments will be provided;

Nursery & Reception
Sport sessions in fundamental skills, gym and dance
Depart: 11:30
Year 1
Sport sessions in touch rugby, cricket, gym and dance
Depart: 12.30pm
Year 2
Sport sessions in netball, cricket, touch rugby, gym and dance
Depart: 12:30pm
