Reading Festival of Sport

We are excited to announce the Reading Festival of Sport on the morning of Saturday 20 May.

The Festival is a fun opportunity for children aged 3 – 7 years to take part in a free morning of sport taster sessions, coached by The Abbey’s specialist PE staff and GB gymnast Kelly Simm. You can read more details about arrangements for the morning below. Places are limited so early booking is advised. To register for a place, please email JuniorPE@theabbey.co.uk

More details on the festival are as follows:

  • All activities take place at The Abbey Junior School on Christchurch Road Reading, RG2 7AR;
  • A parent or guardian is required to remain on site at all times;
  • Places will be offered by age group: Nursery; Reception; Year 1 & Year 2;
  • All sport taster sessions will be delivered by expert coaches who are experienced with this age group;
  • Limited parking is available at The Abbey Junior School.  Additional roadside parking is available;
  • The Mayor of Reading, Cllr Rachel Eden and GB gymnast Kelly Simm will officially open the Reading Festival of Sport at 09:00;
  • Refreshments will be provided;

Sport sessions and times of departure will differ by age group:

Nursery & Reception
Sport sessions in fundamental skills, gym and dance
Depart: 11:30

Year 1
Sport sessions in touch rugby, cricket, gym and dance
Depart: 12.30pm

Year 2
Sport sessions in netball, cricket, touch rugby, gym and dance
Depart: 12:30pm
