Poetry Pops-up at Viv’s Cafe in Henley

on

During the late afternoon of Monday 16 June, nine Abbey students took part in the Pop-Up Poetry Café at Viv’s Café in Henley, a celebration of all things poetical. Each student performed poems from memory, either sharing their own work or performing a poem by a poet that they enjoyed. Fikayo Lower V, Lase Lower V, Beatrice Upper III, Ellanya Upper IV, Janani Lower IV , Gabrielle Upper IV, Vamika Upper III, Yuki Lower IV and Abigail, also in Lower IV, all gave excellent performances to enthusiastic applause.

Ellanya said of her taking part in the event:

“Performing at Viv’s was an incredible experience! I had so much fun sharing my original poem, The Fish of Strong Will, which had my own playful twist. It was so inspiring to be surrounded by some of the most talented poets I’ve ever met — the amazing students of the Abbey and their stupendous poems, along with the extraordinary Ms Craig! This opportunity not only allowed me to perform in front of a live audience, but also gave me valuable real-world experience, all while having a fantastic time at the café!”
