Sixteen students shared some stunning performances in the final Piano Recital of the academic year on 15 May in the Lecture Theatre.
The evening began with an exciting version of “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Saanvi and this set the scene for a recital showcasing many different styles of music, from classical pieces to Richard Clayderman compositions and jazz-inspired offerings.
Some girls impressed by playing their music from memory and others gave convincing performances of pieces that they have been preparing for the forthcoming instrumental exams. Towards the end of the programme, Mia and Grace played a hauntingly beautiful duet, entitled “A French Waltz” and this was followed soon afterwards by a thoroughly entertaining “Classical Mash-Up” performed by four girls at the piano!
The audience was invited to guess how many excerpts of pieces were cleverly entwined in the performance and Mia was eventually awarded the prize for being the nearest. Amazingly, seventy pieces were ‘hidden’ within the piece!
Huge thanks must be extended to Aarini for being a fabulous MC for the occasion, as well as to all performers and teachers for their dedicated preparation and support.
