This week was the beginning of an exciting new journey as we attended our first session with British Young Pilots. It was an introduction not just to aviation, but to an entirely new way of thinking, one that blends curiosity, and a deep understanding of the world above us.

In this first session, we explored the fundamentals of aircraft: what they are, how they function, and the science that keeps them in the air. Behind every flight lies a powerful combination of physics and mathematics; principles like lift, thrust, drag, and gravity working together in perfect balance. What makes this experience even more engaging is the hands-on aspect. Using advanced Xbox flight simulators, we will begin to understand the controls, mechanics, and responsiveness of an aircraft.

These simulators provide a realistic environment where we can safely develop our skills, build confidence, and prepare for real-world flying. After completing eight sessions, we will have the incredible opportunity to book our very first actual flight. For me personally, this experience is especially meaningful. Having travelled to over 21 countries with my family, I have developed a deep appreciation for exploring the world.

Learning to fly feels like the next step in that journey, offering a new level of freedom and perspective. Being given the chance to learn aviation at such a stage in life is a privilege I do not take lightly. I am incredibly grateful to the Abbey for providing this opportunity and supporting us in pursuing something so unique and inspiring. As I look ahead, I feel a strong sense of anticipation. I cannot wait for my first flight and for the many lessons that lie ahead.
