We are delighted to announce that Senior School Computer Science teacher, Miss Mogio, has been recognised by Microsoft as a Microsoft Innovator in Education Expert (MIEE) this year.

According to Microsoft: “These exceptional educators are at the forefront of educational transformation, harnessing the power of technology to enhance learning experiences and inspire the next generation of learners. Microsoft Innovative Educator (MIE) Experts have demonstrated a deep commitment to integrating technology into their classrooms, fostering collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking among their students. This community of educators is redefining teaching and learning in the digital age. The MIE Expert program brings together a diverse community of educators from around the world who share a passion for leveraging Microsoft tools and solutions to create immersive and engaging learning environments. We are proud of their endeavours and honoured to support their work as they transform the lives of students.”

Robert Bradley, Senior School Head of Computer Science, adds, “We are all so proud of Miss Mogio. This MIEE status recognises the amazing work Miss Mogio does in the classroom, and also the enormous amount of professional development she does outside the classroom to ensure she continues to provide the best possible outcomes for our students.

“In part this award is down to her development of the Upper Three Computing curriculum and her introduction of the use of Minecraft Education Edition to teach Python programming. This ensures that girls develop the resilience required to build their coding skills in later year groups. It also has the added bonus that she will be able to collaborate with hundreds of other digital education experts around the world.”

Deputy Head Academic, Dr Dawn Bellamy, comments, ‘Now that the Key Stage Three Curriculum Review has embedded Computing and Computer Science within the core of our students’ learning during their first three years at The Abbey Senior School, this award is a timely reminder of the ways in which we celebrate collaboration, both within and beyond the School, as well as keeping that powerful combination of academic excellence and joy at the heart of all we do. Congratulations to Miss Mogio!’

We all look forward to seeing what new initiatives Miss Mogio discovers as she works more closely with Microsoft over the next year.
