On Wednesday we were able to visit the Royal Berkshire Hospital, more specifically the Medical Physics Department. During the trip we had the fantastic opportunity to explore how Physics can be applied in a future career such as being a Clinical Scientist at a hospital.

One of the highlights of the trip included seeing a CT scan and learning how they produce detailed images of the human body using X-rays. This was something that interested us as seeing how physics can be applied to medicine gave us a better understanding of its importance in everyday life.

Another aspect that impacted us was how the Clinical Scientists, or Medical Physicists, we spoke to had all begun their career paths with just studying physics at university. This opened our eyes to the many different pathways physics opens up for you and it was incredible to see how medical physics impacts and teaches us so much about the human body.

Overall the Medical Physics Trip was incredibly fun and helpful for understanding an essential part of our A-Level course and we were so grateful to the NHS team for welcoming us with such enthusiasm, despite our sometimes silly questions!
