Lunar New Year Celebrations

on

Lunar New Year, also known as Spring Festival and Chinese New Year, is a celebration marking the arrival of Spring and the beginning of a new year on the lunar calendar. In 2025, Chinese New Year was celebrated on Wednesday January 29th and is the Year of the Snake.

To commemorate this occasion, a Chinese-themed menu was served on the first day of the Lunar New Year. All staff and students had the opportunity to enjoy it. We offered a variety of dishes, including appetizers, main courses, and desserts. The students particularly enjoyed special items like “Vegan Ants Climbing Trees,” “Shanghai Noodles,” and “Hong Kong Egg Tart.”

Additionally, there was a station for students to try Chinese calligraphy by writing their own Fai Chun (揮春). They were provided with traditional red rice paper, and traditional brushes to write the character 福, which means fortune. Fai Chun is a traditional decoration commonly used during the Lunar New Year and it is often placed in doorways to create a festive atmosphere.

The dining hall was adorned with various Fai Chun pieces and decorations. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to have such a unique learning experience at school.
