Last week, Lower and Upper I delighted audiences with their fantastic production of Sleeping Beauty – The Ugly Truth, performed over two afternoons to an enthusiastic audience of parents and families. The children were thrilled to welcome their parents and share the wonderful work they had been preparing over the past weeks.

Set in the glamorous kingdom of Bella Vista, the story takes place in a land where everyone is obsessed with their looks, the latest trendy fashions and celebrity gossip. Even the Royal Family care more about their hair, clothing and their dogs than anything else! When the kingdom falls foul of a witch’s curse, it is left to a humble gardener—armed only with green fingers and good intentions—to save the day.

The performances were full of energy and confidence. The children delivered their lines clearly and with excellent expression, bringing the hilarious script to life and keeping the audience laughing throughout. The production was packed with humour and many wonderful songs, which the children performed with great enthusiasm.

The stage looked fantastic thanks to the amazing backdrop and creative props, which helped transform the hall into the colourful kingdom of Bella Vista. The costumes were vibrant and imaginative, perfectly capturing the characters, while the lively dances added excitement and movement to the performance.

Most importantly, beyond entertaining the audience, the play shared a meaningful message. This delightful twist on a familiar fairytale reminded us that beauty does not come from stylish clothes or perfect hairstyles, but from kindness, honesty and a heart full of love.

We are incredibly proud of all the Lower & Upper I pupils for their hard work, teamwork and confidence on stage. A huge thank you to all the staff involved for their dedication, creativity and support in bringing this wonderful production to life. It was a truly joyful production and a wonderful experience for everyone involved.
