LIII Visit The Ashmolean

on

It was exciting to see the actual artefacts after learning about the value of primary historical sources. LIII took a broad sweep through the Ancient Civilisations of India, Greece, Rome, Assyria and Egypt before focusing in on Ancient China. A workshop leader guided the students through the importance of materials like jade, bronze and ceramics used by the Shang dynasty over three and a half thousand years ago. We heard stories about dragons and looked at pottery chickens.
