On Friday 6 October Lower V and Upper V’s taking GCSE textiles went to Alexandra Palace to visit The Knitting and Stitching show where there was a variety of different exhibitions, stalls and shows. Throughout the day we visited different stalls with work from fashion companies and graduate textile students to gain ideas for our projects and different techniques to incorporate within them.

There were also small businesses selling textile materials such as fabrics, yarn and knitting needles. Some of us even went to the sit and knit area to start learning how to knit and crochet!

We were particularly inspired by Freya Stanford’s final major project ‘Psychedelic Supernova.’ We found that it was greatly interesting as it was made out of couching which is what we are doing at the moment.

Overall it was a really enjoyable day out and hopefully the inspiration sparked will be seen in our future projects!
