On Saturday 10 May, The Abbey was lucky enough to have the esteemed puppeteer Judith Hope (https://www.judithhope.com/) visit the Art & Design department to deliver a fabulous workshop. Art Scholars and students from Upper III – Lower VI learnt to construct a moving puppet out of recycled materials along with hearing about Hope’s work making puppets for festivals, film and theatre. As well as being able to ask her questions about her work, students were able to hold and see a number of her own puppets which really brought them to life. All having their own unique characteristics and personality. The students worked extremely hard and it was great to see that they all completed a finished puppet by the end of the session. Well done to all the artists that took part.
