The Junior School Library is delighted to announce that Abbey alumna, Jennifer Claessen is the new Patron of Reading.

Jennifer’s close association with The Abbey Senior School and success as a children’s author make her the perfect choice to develop and encourage a strong culture of reading for pleasure in our school for the forthcoming academic year.

On her recent visit, Jennifer delivered engaging and inspiring workshops to students from Lower I to Lower III by teaching her technique of using a ‘Story Engine’ to aid her creative writing process. All of the students used skillful paper folding to make miniature booklets for generating their own short story.

Jennifer shared little nuggets about writers that influenced her journey to becoming an author and answered lots of many burning questions from our curious students. We look forward to the exciting new dimension in our school partnership with Jennifer Claessen.
