To celebrate International Women’s Day, our Sixth Form Spanish students have inspired the school with a series of engaging mini-talks on remarkable women from the Spanish-speaking world and beyond. From Rigoberta Menchú (Guatemalan), Nobel Peace Prize winner and Indigenous rights activist, to Claudia Sheinbaum (Mexican), the first woman elected as Head of Government of Mexico City, they highlighted trailblazing figures who have shaped history. They explored the legacy of Leona Vicario (Mexican), a key figure in Mexico’s independence, and Mika Duno (Venezuelan), a record-breaking racing driver. Through their research, they also shed light on cultural icons such as Rosalía (Spanish), the genre-defying artist, and Julia Lanteri (Argentinian), a fearless advocate for women’s rights. Their passion and dedication sparked meaningful discussions and empowered the school community. ¡Qué inspiración!
