This week:
On Wednesday, I performed in the weekly Interludes Recital, alongside Oya, Wini and Shefali.
I have been playing the piano for a few years and enjoyed the opportunity to play in front of a small audience and my friends. I played Vals Poetico, a romantic Spanish waltz, that I am preparing for my piano exam and a Christmas duet – Deck the Halls – that I have been practising in the Piano Duet Club at school.
It was nice to listen to a variety of music and instruments, performed by other students. Oya performed the Venetian Gondola Song at the piano and Shefali performed Arabesque on the flute while Wini sang The Path to the Moon.
The pieces ranged from having a melancholic tune with a gentle rocking rhythm to a lively Arab melody to a calming song. I hope to perform again soon.

Last Week:
In last week’s Abbey Interludes Recital, there were five performers. The recital started off with Margaret (Upper III) playing a joyful piano piece with lots of syncopated rhythms. Then Isobel (Lower IV) treated us to a beautiful vocal performance. Then I went and played a piece called Gavotte on my flute. Next Amelia (Lower V) performed a vocal piece about a ladybird. Last but not least, Emily (Lower VI) played a piano piece by Chopin.
It was a great opportunity to share all the musical talents, as everyone was kind and supportive. A massive thank you for Miss Tull for organising it!!
Lara, Upper III
