We are so proud that Glory in LIV won ‘The Hidden Hero Award’at the Berkshire Youth Awards!
Glory was invited to attend a special Award Ceremony at Pentahotal in Reading over half term.
The 85th Anniversary Awards were to recognise the remarkable achievements of young people and those who support them, attended by finalists, dignitaries, councillors, MPs, community leaders and supporters of Berkshire Youth.
Glory attended the event with her parents and said, “When I found out that I was shortlisted I was so delighted, and so proud of myself, but to win the award was on a whole other level. It felt so wonderful and terrific to win the award. When I was handed the certificate and the glass award, I felt so ultimately amazed. Showing kindness to people doesn’t only show how gentle and kind you are but also shows how respectful you are as a person and it never goes unnoticed.”

Glory says “recognition is not the key, kindness is” which sums up beautifully why she is such a worthy winner of the Hidden Hero Award. She exemplifies our school value of kindness and constantly lifts and looks out for all those around her – never seeking reward.
Every Sunday Glory takes pride in cleaning her Church after devotion. She loves to help her church community in this way, and rather than seeing it as a chore says, “it’s just a lovely feeling of kindness”. At Church she also enjoys helping other children with their work, plays with them if they’re upset and volunteers to run activities for her Devotional Scouts.
At school, her understated, consistent acts of kindness are highly valued. Glory does many charitable acts when no one is watching. She is the student that will pick up tissue paper on the floor in the toilets, rather than expecting someone else to. She will run to hold a door open and hands out books before a teacher has to ask.
A friend to all, she will notice if someone is feeling down or needs help. She will be the person to offer to listen, to go for a walk, or simply just sit with them. If she thinks anyone seems lonely, she will reach out and offer to sit with them at lunch.
When asked how she thinks she lifts up others, Glory said, “Through kindness and respectfulness”. These values are at the core of Glory. She performs acts of kindness without the expectation of acknowledgment – done not for recognition or reward, but simply because it’s the right thing to do.
However, on this occasion we are delighted that Glory has got recognition and won The Hidden Hero Award. It reflects just how much she is appreciated and the ripple effect of positivity she has on all those around her.
