Girls Human Rights Hub

on

This year, our Current Affairs Prefect, Evie, along with Meredith, has launched an exciting new initiative as part of the Girls Human Rights Hub – an organisation dedicated to empowering young people and advocating for the human rights of girls worldwide.

To kick off their efforts, Evie and Meredith hosted a Sixth Form panel discussion in honour of the UN’s International Day of the Girl Child 2024. During the event, students engaged in meaningful conversations about how their personal experiences of issues like education, healthcare, and family life contrast with those faced by girls around the world. An inspiring assembly followed this presented to younger students, encouraging them to join the cause by participating in Mini Hubs, which will soon be established at The Abbey Senior School.

Looking ahead, we are excited to continue this important work through a series of events, including workshops, fundraising initiatives, and discussion groups, all aimed at furthering the cause of girls’ rights.

A heartfelt thank you to Meredith and Evie for their leadership and for setting the stage for such an impactful movement within our school community.
