It’s been all go in the German department! Our 6th form recently enjoyed a fascinating seminar on the recent German election, which broadened both their political knowledge and their vocabulary. In addition to this, as part of the Goethe Institute’s ‘German week’ we hosted an Easter Egg decorating competition and welcomed a Young German Ambassador from the Institute to meet our Lower V students.

Easter Egg competition
On Thursday last week, LR5 became a hub of creativity and fun. A mixture of year groups put their artistic skills to good use, in what has now become an annual event. Their task was to create the most imaginative, appealing Easter Egg to hang on our ‘Osterstrauss’, ready to be judged by Frau Byrne. There were some fantastic creations and the winner will be announced in the final assembly before Easter. Well done to all and Frohe Ostern!

Lower V seminar
Our Lower V German students were lucky enough to meet a Young German Ambassador from the Goethe Institute. Julia gave us an inspirational talk about how German could be a gateway to a wide range of future careers, as well as what prompted her to study German at university. We learned some fun and interesting facts along the way and finished off with a competitive quiz, the winners of which were the happy recipients of some Haribo!
