German trip to Oxford

on

On Monday, Grace, Frau Byrne, and Mr. Vairo traveled to Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford for a collective public reading of Metamorphosis to mark the 100th anniversary of Franz Kafka’s death. The event featured readings from literary figures, civic leaders, University academics, and students, and we had the opportunity to reflect on the themes of Metamorphosis and celebrate the power of Kafka’s voice today.

Readers included:

  • Lemn Sissay, author and broadcaster
  • Ben Okri, author
  • Lisa Appignanesi, author
  • Professor Helen McShane, Professor of Vaccinology, Oxford University
  • Danial Hussain, President of Oxford Student Union
  • Marie Chatardová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the UK
  • Miguel Berger, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to the UK

It was a fabulous and thought-provoking event, and we would like to recommend Kafka’s works to everyone!
