On Friday 13 September, the GCSE Fine Art and Textiles students had a private view showcasing all of their works from September 2022 – May 2024. There was a great turnout and a wonderful atmosphere in our Hardcastle Hall. We were delighted that many of our students and their families were able to attend, as well as Abbey Staff, Governors and our local community. A couple of our students shared the following feedback:
We had a great time sharing what we had been working on for the last two years, and looking at all of the wonderful pieces up on display around the hardcastle hall. My favourite part of the evening was seeing the broad variety of pieces produced, ranging from surrealist hats (beautifully modelled by some of The Abbey staff) to embroidered dresses and skirts. Seeing how all the hard work had paid off was very rewarding! Chloe, Lower VI
We had an amazing time sharing each other’s work over the last two years and it was lovely to see returning students. My favourite part was getting to see everyones pieces together and seeing the ranges of themes and mediums, from wacky hats to paintings, as well as the beautiful textiles work. Ava, Lower VI
This was such a great opportunity to celebrate the success of our GCSE students. We wish to express thanks to all of our Abbey community as well as the staff and students for their involvement in another wonderful collaborative event.
