This year’s GCSE Art & Design Exhibition was an inspiring celebration of creativity, showcasing the outstanding achievements of students across Fine Art, Textile Design, and featured for the very first time our 3-Dimensional Design pathway. The exhibition brought together an impressive breadth of individual work, reflecting the dedication, imagination and technical skill of our young artists.

Visitors were welcomed into a vibrant, immersive display where each piece told a unique story. The Fine Art collections revealed students’ growing confidence with drawing, painting, mixed media and conceptual exploration. From expressive portraiture, dynamic and playful sculpture and abstract compositions, the work demonstrated remarkable artistic maturity.
In Textile Design, students presented an array of innovative surface patterns, hand-crafted garments, and experimental textile pieces. Their work highlighted not only skill in traditional techniques such as embroidery, weaving and fabric manipulation, but also a willingness to push boundaries and explore contemporary textile practices.

Our inaugural cohort in 3-Dimensional Design showcased an exciting new dimension to the department’s creative output. Sculptures, architectural models, and functional design pieces illustrated students’ ability to think spatially and transform ideas into tactile, beautifully crafted objects. For a first year, the standard was exceptionally high, offering a glimpse into the future potential of this expanding discipline.

The exhibition received enthusiastic praise from all who attended, including families, staff, and peers. Perhaps most notably, our AQA Examination Moderator, who visited in June, commended the exceptional quality, breadth and individuality of the work on display. Their feedback celebrated not only the technical proficiency of the students, but also the strong sense of personal voice evident in each project.

This year’s exhibition stands as a testament to the hard work of our students and the support of the Art & Design department. It reflects a thriving creative community where learners are encouraged to experiment, take risks, and develop their ideas with confidence.

Congratulations to all of our GCSE artists and designers—your achievements have set a new benchmark for excellence, and we cannot wait to see where your talents take you next.
