First Annual Speed Cubing Event

on

Wednesday 6 July saw a speed cubing event at the Senior School that involved students from Lower III to Upper IV.

Speed cubing is how fast someone can solve a Rubik’s cube and times varied from two minutes to just under 20 seconds. Some of the students had started learning this year, but it takes a lot of practice to consistently get under 30 seconds, so well done to Grace in Upper III for some outstanding times.

We were joined by students from The Abbey Junior School, four of whom took part and showed what they had learnt having only started learning at the start of this term. It was a good opportunity for them to meet others who are more experienced in solving the cube.

Speed cubing club meets once a week and will continue from September. Having your own cube is not essential, but in order to be able to practise, it would be a good idea to invest in one.
