On Friday 7 November, the Reception children in After School Care enjoyed firework themed fun through lots of different activities. The lights in the room were dimmed and a disco light covered the room in different colours and a firework display played on the board making it seem like we were surrounded by bright fireworks. The children enjoyed making breadstick sparklers, dipping them in dark chocolate and spraying them with edible silver lustre dust.

Then they made paper firework rockets, colouring them in and attaching coloured streamers before zooming around the room with their rockets saying “crackle”, “crash” and “boom!” Coloured sand was also put into shaped containers to make a firework in a bottle, and then the sand in the tuff tray was made into firework shapes and patterns with their fingers. Oil pastels were used to make their very own firework scene, over a town skyline and they really captured the movement of the fireworks. The girls’ favourite activity was finding firework themed pictures in the garden using torches. They loved shouting out the numbers and working together to find them all – earning them a scavenger hunt sticker! Finally, with the disco light already on dancing was inevitable. They showed off their brilliant dance moves and even embodied fireworks as they danced to ‘Firework’ by Katy Perry.
