Every year, Abbey students celebrate wonderful achievements in public examinations.
Today our brilliant Sixth Form cohort studying the globally respected International
Baccalaureate Diploma Programme have received their results. Their average score was
over 39 points – higher than the standard offer from the University of Oxford and far ahead of
the global average of around 30.

This is a world-class level of performance. Around half the cohort scored over 40 points and
over 84% of individual grades were at 6 or 7, the equivalent of A/A*.
These results underpin a stunning set of courses and destinations, including:
● International Relations at Edinburgh
● Physics and Theology & Religion at Oxford
● Psychology and Global Sustainable Development and PPE at Warwick
● Medicine at Leeds, Southampton and Newcastle
● Modern Foreign Languages at Leeds and Bath
● Musical Theatre at Italia Conti

Dr Sarah Tullis, Head of The Abbey, said: “We’re so proud of every student and the
commitment and dedication they’ve shown. What makes us most proud is not the results
themselves, brilliant as they are, but the way students achieved them: in a community full of
joy and laughter, where students are so quick to celebrate each other’s successes and
acknowledge the passionate support of staff. That’s what makes our girls-only environment
so special.

“As a school, our goal is to equip every young person to achieve academic excellence with
confidence, purpose and joy. We want them to go out into the world, sure of themselves,
committed to helping others, and ready to shape the future – all with a smile on their face.
Our IB students exemplify that spirit: we’re thrilled for their success, and know this is the
start of wonderful adventures at university and beyond.”
