Enrichment Bites: Ellie Smith

on

On Monday 10 March, Abbey alumna Ellie Smith gave a speech on her journey as an electronics engineer.

Ellie left the Abbey in 2017 and went to the university of Warwick, where she gained a bachelor’s degree in electronics engineering. She then went on to work for Network Rail for four years before switching companies to TFL and working on the London underground.

Ellie gave a fascinating talk about the realities of being an engineer. Her talk was not only inspirational but uplifting as she talked about both the joys of her career and overcoming adversity, such as encountering gender bias. She also spoke about the academic challenges involved in engineering and how well the Abbey had prepared her.
