English Schools Cross Country

on

An impressive start to the Cross Country season for our runners this week competing in both the Reading Schools League and the English Schools Cross Country Cup.

On Tuesday, three teams representing The Abbey made the short journey to Reading Rugby club for the Team event. Races ranged from 2.2km for the Junior girls to 3.5kms for the Senior Girls. It was a fantastic day and perfect running conditions.
We had some excellent individual performances notably from Florence (11th) in the Junior girls Year 7&8 race, April (8th) and Stephanie (15th) in the Inter girls and Matilda (9th) and Hannah (13th) in the Senior race.

The best thing about today was the team spirit in which the runners all participated with. They encouraged and supported one another across the age groups. This was especially helpful to the Upper III’s and to Hazel (6th Form) as this was their first big cross country race. Also a huge well done to those students who ran at short notice, who with true Abbey grit and determination gave it their all. We could not have asked for anything more.
