Dutch Apple Cakes

on

On Monday, we made delicious Dutch Apple cakes. It was a great way to start our Food and Nutrition lessons for the year, making cake and learning about the raising agents while we waited. We really enjoyed learning a new recipe, and they tasted much better than shop-bought cakes, especially with the fresh seasonal apples blended with cinnamon that we used as decorations.

For the cakes, we both used different types of caster sugar (white caster sugar and golden caster sugar, respectively) and noticed how it affected the texture. They were both very light and airy. The smell in the oven was heavenly as they baked! We can’t wait for what is to come this year with many other fantastic creations to come!
