Diwali dance workshop

on

Girls from Prep to Lower III thoroughly enjoyed taking part in a vibrant and imaginative Diwali dance workshop this week. The session centred on the great Hindu story about Prince Rama and his wife Sita, a story that has been shared orally and through dance for centuries.

Pupils used their imaginations to physically retell this timeless tale — from creating the sounds and shapes of the forest to lighting the lamps that guide Rama and Sita home. Led by the wonderfully charismatic Benji , a professional actor and dancer from West End in Schools, each class worked together with focus and enthusiasm, learning through movement while exploring cultural traditions.

Over the course of 30 minutes, every group produced their own dance retelling the Ramayana story. The sessions not only provided a fantastic creative experience but also supported pupils’ Religious Education learning, deepening their understanding of Diwali and religious celebrations.

It was a truly joyful and memorable experience for all involved.
