On Thursday, Lower Prep went on a trip to Dinton Pastures, equipped with waterproofs and welly boots ready to go pond dipping as part of our Inquiry Unit about Water.
After arriving, we collected fishing nets, trays, specimen pots, and a classification booklet and walked through the beautiful, green forest to the pond. Once we reached the water, a park ranger explained how to pond dip, and we worked in small groups to see what creatures we could find.
We found and identified a water scorpion, dragonflies, a water boatman, and a hairy water worm. After all the fun of pond dipping, we then went for a picnic lunch and a play in the park. We had so much fun and loved finding and classifying interesting pond life.
