Deputy Head Girls’ Introduction

on

Hello everyone, we are the new Deputy Head Girls for the upcoming year and we are really looking forward to taking on this exciting and incredible opportunity! We are passionate about helping to foster the positive, inspiring and welcoming environment within our school community that ensures every student feels valued, supported and empowered to be themselves.

I (Sophie) study Economics, Maths and History and have always felt inspired at The Abbey to try and reach my full potential, whether that be in class or through trying the many opportunities that are offered to us. I have always recognised the special qualities of our school community, including the extremely supportive atmosphere that allows everyone to feel confident and nurtured.

I (Emily) am studying Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Psychology. What I think really makes The Abbey stand out is the strong sense of belonging among the students and staff, creating a vibrant community spirit. This welcoming environment encourages both academic and personal growth, and makes sure that all voices are heard. There is something available for everyone in the range of choices offered, which is lovely to see.

I (Martha) study History, English Literature and French, and I really love the nurturing environment that is fostered here at The Abbey. No matter your strengths or interests, the staff and students across year groups are genuinely committed to supporting each individual in the most thoughtful way possible – whether that’s through academic encouragement, co-curricular opportunities, or simply creating a space where you feel truly seen and valued.

I (Calista) study Biology, Chemistry and Psychology and I think that The Abbey is a very special community where everyone is confident to be whoever they are. It is such a warm and welcoming atmosphere where both staff and students are really supportive, it creates an environment where everyone can pursue their own passions. It’s wonderful to be a part of a community where there is truly a space for everyone and there are countless opportunities to do things that interest you.

I (Laylajoy) study Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Further Maths. What immediately stands out to me about the school is how contagious the confidence, passion, love and joy radiating from every person is. It’s built my self esteem and led to me exploring my interests and individuality, which I was never comfortable doing before. The Abbey is a place where every student and teacher can flourish without fear of others because of the deeply rooted understanding that we cannot and will not be forced into a box of conventionalism. Rather, we are encouraged to break out of that box and discover ourselves.

I (Joshika) study Biology, Chemistry & Psychology. What I love most about The Abbey are the vast opportunities to advocate for student voices and this role will provide a great platform to pursue this further. Having been at The Abbey since nursery, I can proudly say that The Abbey has been my second home through these years, helping me grow into the person I am today. I’ve had the privilege of experiencing how the school evolves alongside its students whilst listening and valuing our input throughout. Whether this is through leadership opportunities, student- led initiatives or even simply being encouraged to speak up. Taking on this role means a lot to me as it is a chance to give back to this school community and I’m really excited to work alongside others who are equally passionate about shaping our joyful and inclusive environment, in the coming year.

So far, we have enjoyed having an active role in hearing from students and collaborating with them, whether that be through the various council meetings or informal chats and Q&As with younger students. We recognise the importance of strengthening relationships and connectivity between every student at The Abbey, to create the best possible environment for everyone. Throughout our time as Deputy Head Girls we are eager to support the Head Girls in fostering a community where every voice is heard, every student feels valued and collaboration thrives across all year groups.
