Our U14 & U16 Netball performance squads attended the County Round of National Schools at Theale Green on Saturday 8 November. Please see below a summary of how each squad got on!

The U14’s had a fantastic tournament. The nine strong squad arrived early in order to have a thorough warm up for the day ahead, which paid dividends. The players put everything on court and each member of the squad delivered with attitude and effort. They went through to the quarter finals after a fantastic win against Wellington College and qualified for the semi finals. In the semi finals they narrowly lost to The Marist after a heroic performance.

The squad were absolutely fantastic, played netball beyond their years and should be commended for their efforts. We are incredibly proud of them and are excited for the future with this team.

The Abbey 6 – 7 Newlands
The Abbey 8 – 7 St Mary’s
The Abbey 9 – 5 Wellington College
The Abbey 10 – 7 Reading Blue Coat (Quarter final)
The Abbey 8 – 12 The Marist (Semi final)

Our U16’s had an equally incredible performance at the tournament! Our squad of 10 versatile and determined players showcased outstanding skill, teamwork, and spirit throughout the day. The standard of play was phenomenal, and their hard work and commitment truly paid off as they won the majority of their matches in superb style.
The results were as follows:

The Abbey 4 – 5 St Mary’s

Each player contributed brilliantly, adapting to different positions and supporting one another with enthusiasm and resilience. Their performances were a testament to their dedication and teamwork.

Congratulations to both squads on such an impressive display of Netball! Mrs MacMillan, Miss Whelan, Ms Floyd and Mrs Sikorski are so proud of you all – your effort, attitude, and sportsmanship were exceptional and it was lovely to see both squads supporting each other in between matches too.

The U16A’s are through to Round 4 of the Sisters in Sport national competition and look forward to hosting Lingfield College next!
