What better way to welcome our new Classicists than with chocolate brownies, biscuits and squash? The Classics Society held an impromptu social at the start of term, bringing together students from Lower V to Upper VI studying Latin, Greek and Classical Civilisation.
Over some of Mrs Sutcliffe’s famous chocolate brownies (which, unsurprisingly, proved very popular!), students had the chance to meet other Classicists across the school and find out about the exciting opportunities coming up this term. These include a performance of Oresteia at the Bridge Theatre, a pizza and film social, our ever-popular Classics Seminars and much more. And, of course, there is the particularly exciting prospect of our international trip to Athens in October 2026!
Everyone had a brilliant time, and each student left with a Classics Society badge which they all wore with pride. As a teacher, it was fantastic to see so many students mingling, chatting and discovering the wider Classics community at the school. Most importantly, it was wonderful to see how genuinely excited they are about beginning or continuing their Classics journey.
This was only the beginning: many more exciting Classics Society events are to follow!
