Christ Church Scholars’ Recital

on

On Wednesday 8th of March, a group of our passionate music scholars held a lunchtime recital at the beautiful Christ Church.

An exciting clarinet duet –  Concertpiece No 2 by Mendelssohn – performed by Jennifer and Kate boldly opened the recital. This was followed by Emily’s stylish soprano saxophone performance of the classic jazz standard Summertime by George Gershwin.

Next on the programme was Shree on the violin who played a captivating rendition of Bloch’s Vidui. Oya brought back the jazzy tunes with her flawless performance of New Kid by Christopher Norton on the piano.

I was up next playing Lucy Long by F. Godfrey. Being my first bassoon solo performance, I could definitely feel the nerves but overall it was a great experience and I look forward to performing again.

To conclude this brilliant recital Megan effortlessly and stylishly played Dreams of You by Dave McGarry on her alto saxophone.

On behalf of the performers, I would like to thank Ms Bilkey and Mr Stone not least for their wonderful accompaniment (without which this recital would not have been possible) but the entire music department for their continued support and encouragement.
