10 of our keen chess players had the opportunity to meet Lorin D’Costa, an International Chess Master, when he visited Reading on Monday. Lorin is a full-time chess teacher and he coaches some of the top chess schools in the UK, some of England’s strongest junior players, and also the England team at World and European Youth Championships. They met him at Kendrick school, which he was also visiting. He arranged for them to play brain and hand/alternate moves matches and also for Abbey and Kendrick girls to play each other. Some of our girls were very pleased to win their matches and were excited to meet Lorin. A fun time was had by all.
