Foodie Rosa in Upper II met TV chef Yotam Ottolenghi at her first supper club, which celebrated the launch of his new cookbook.
She had previously met the Israeli-British chef and restaurateur at a Q&A event a few years ago, during which she was the first in the audience to ask him a question about his career choice – and she got to quiz him again at his London restaurant Rovi at the weekend.
She learned that while she is an Ottolenghi superfan, his nine-year-old son is not. The same was said of his co-author Helen Goh’s nine-year-old daughter. Both cooks were impressed by Rosa’s palate: she eats everything her mum puts in front of her at mealtimes without complaint.
The eight-course menu on Sunday included creamy aubergine caesar dip with crudités, butter-braised kohlrabi with olive chimichurri, roasted carrots with curry leaf dukkah, and butternut, tamarind and coconut stew. Rosa loved all the dishes, and her favourite was dessert: brownie cookies with tahini cream and halva.
She left the event with a signed copy of ‘Comfort’ – and can’t wait to help her mum get started on the recipes.
