Last Friday saw Pyjama Day arrive in style, with our students and staff arriving at school in comfort wearing a mix of pyjamas and the ever popular onesie. Why did we decide on a mix of both? Well, it was the annual Children-in-Need National Fundraiser as well as Type Onesie Day for raising awareness for Type 1 diabetes. Sadie in Upper I was at the gate with her wide smile collecting money which will go towards funding research for diabetes. She then led our Assembly with confidence, saying that living with the condition is like keeping a balloon in the air, a powerful metaphor for the never-ending, often invisible, balancing act required to live with diabetes. One of our parents, Fainia Kavvoura who is a Diabetes Consultant at the RBH and leads the Young People Diabetes Service, answered some thoughtful questions from the children. The Charity Captains were also on hand collecting money and sharing some statistics on how many young people are helped by Children-in-Need each year, proud of the fact that we, as a school support this fundraising drive each year. Thank you for your generosity for two worthy charities.
