What an incredible weekend of music our Lower III students experienced at the National Children’s Orchestra event in London. On 24-25 February, four of our talented young instrumentalists had the honour of performing at Goldsmiths University alongside eager musicians from all over the country.
After a rigorous audition process, Amy (bassoon), Rina (cello), Emma (viola), and Emma (violin) were selected to join this prestigious orchestra. For two days, they rehearsed diligently under the baton of Robert Hodge, Undergraduate Professor of Conducting at the Royal College of Music, perfecting an eclectic programme that was simply spellbinding.
The performances were nothing short of magical! The auditorium came alive with the rhythms of Train Driver’s Journey, the whimsical Muppet Show Theme and Elgar’s Fairies and Giants. This was followed by the gentle Las Mariposas, and the iconic Pink Panther Theme. The finale was the swashbuckling Pirates of the Caribbean medley. Our students shone brightly, showcasing their remarkable talents on the national stage.
We are brimming with pride for Amy, Rina, Emma and Emma! Their passion, dedication, and hard work were on full display during this weekend extravaganza of music. Experiences like these are invaluable for nurturing young musical abilities. A huge well done to our four marvellous musicians! You have made our school community beam with pride. We cannot wait to see what musical heights you will reach next.
