Berkshire Schools Cross Country
Saturday 17 January saw the annual Berkshire Schools Cross Country held at Newbury Racecourse. Schools from across Berkshire were represented, with over 500 athletes running over the course of the day.
Berkshire is renowned for having an excellent standard of cross country runners and all our athletes showed grit, determination and courage as they battled the cross country course. The races were highly competitive, and it was lovely to see The Abbey runners cheering each other on and supporting each other over the line. Well done to Paloma, Sophia and Amy for completing their first Berkshire Schools Cross Country, running a strong race and finishing with a smile! Jinxin, who had an excellent start and continued to work hard all the way to the end and Rosa, who ran an excellent race and has shown exemplary commitment to cross country running at The Abbey.
Also a particular well done goes to April, Matilda, Gabriella and Amelia, who, after pulling out all the stops, all qualified to represent Berkshire in the South East Inter Counties Cross Country Championships, on Saturday 31 January in Chelmsford.
Well done everyone and good luck to our Abbey runners in the next round!
Mrs Mullett and Miss Floyd
