Art Scholars Tea Party

on

On Wednesday, 6 November, Abbey Art scholars gathered in Richards Hall for the annual Art scholars tea party. A few of our wonderful art scholars give their feedback on the event below:

“The art scholars were buzzing with excitement when walking toward the Richards Hall, filled with excitement on what the evening held for us. When entering, we were greeted by the round tea party tables as we quickly scrambled for the best view with our friends.

When we finally settled down amongst ourselves, our icebreaker was finally announced! This year, the Art department had made staff paper dolls which we were allowed to dress up and decorate. We had so much fun decorating our paper dolls with our teacher’s faces on them!

On our table, we have decorated our staff member as Elsa from Frozen and even gave her a cape and a braid! After our incredibly fun icebreaker, the Drama scholars joined us for the high tea. We were served many delicious-looking foods, including fruit scones, lemon drizzle cakes, salmon and cucumber sandwiches and even rich chocolate tarts!

Our table enjoyed the food so much, we had finished it all almost immediately after being served. After eating, we all settled down with some tea or hot chocolate and greeted the new year 7s, who were so happy to receive the new supplies given by the Art department.

Before we knew it, the evening had ended, although we felt disappointed that the night was over. We will never forget the fun and new friends we made as we went home with full stomachs and a smile.”

“At the tea party there was a fun activity set up and lots of food and drinks to enjoy together. The activity consisted of taking puppets of the teachers, picking a theme from a pot and making the puppet clothes to fit the theme using paper and pens.

We then put all of them on display on the stage so everyone could see what other groups had created. This year, we also invited the Drama Scholars to join our tea party which made it more memorable. We got to talk about what activities the Drama scholars had done and tell them about what we did as well.

We were also told about upcoming events, like the visit to Warner Bros studios and House Art, and how we could sign up and get involved with them. We look forward to participating in the Art events over the next year and feel honoured to be involved in the scholarship programme.” Julie and Maddie, Upper IV

The biggest thank you to all involved for making the event such a success!
