Art Scholars Explore Festive Creativity in Oil Painting Workshop with Artist in Residence, Mia

on

The Art Scholars recently enjoyed vibrant and inspiring workshops led by our Artist in Residence, Mia, who introduced the group to the rich and expressive world of oil paints. With the option of a festive theme to spark their imaginations, students were encouraged to explore colour, blending and atmosphere through traditional oil-painting techniques.

The session began with a demonstration from Mia, who guided scholars through how to mix colours effectively and create glowing beautiful tones. Throughout the workshop, scholars used palette knives, brushes and oil thinning methods to bring life to their paintings. Mia moved between students, offering personalised advice that helped them gain confidence with a medium that was new to many.

“Mia ran a wonderful oil-painting workshop for the art scholars, and it was such a fun experience. It was my first time trying oil paints, and I really enjoyed getting creative alongside my friends. Thank you to everyone who helped put it together—we truly appreciate it.” Margaret, Lower IV

This workshop not only introduced students to the possibilities of oil paint but also allowed them to experience the creative process alongside a practising artist. We are grateful to Mia for sharing her expertise and enthusiasm, to Kate, our other artist in residence, who also supported and to our Art Scholars for their hard work and imaginative contributions.
